Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions about your specific project? Please reach out. We’re happy to talk.
What types of aircraft do you design for?
Too many to list here. From Beechcraft Bonanzas to Bombardiers. Cessnas, Gulfstreams, Pipers, and PC-12s. When it comes to interior refurbishment design, our database of 3D models ranges from small turboprops to ultra-long-range heavy jets. For exterior paint schemes, if it has wings that don’t flap, we can design exterior schemes for it. Shoot us a line or give us a call to ask about your specific aircraft.
Can you help me coordinate with my completion center?
Absolutely. We work as an extension of your team. To ensure the transition from design to completion is seamless and that your investment is protected, we provide your selected production facility with a meticulously documented spec sheet of every item needed to complete your project successfully. To avoid frustrating and costly production delays, we also provide a recommended timeline for materials ordering that is based on the required lead times quoted for your chosen materials and the production milestones and order of installation for your specific aircraft. We’ve worked with (and for) the top completion centers in North America and enjoy trusting and collaborative relationships with their teams. So we’re always happy to jump on a call on your behalf if needed. We also offer full project management services for larger projects.
What do industrial and mechanical design principles have to do with interior aircraft design?
In our experience, aircraft refurbishment projects are more successful when the designer has knowledge and experience beyond conceptual design. As Ken says, “When you understand what is happening BEHIND the panel you make better decisions about what goes ON the panel.” Ken’s experience creating mechanical and conceptual drawings for new build and modification projects taught him to design, not just for beauty and ergonomics, but beauty and ergonomics that can withstand the even greater challenges of a rigorous aviation engineering and certification process that, to even a seasoned interior designer, is ambiguous at best and costly if not strictly adhered to.
When does it make more sense to use an independent designer instead of in-house completion designers?
The answer is probably more of a WHO than a WHEN. Our clients typically come to us because they want a more personal, thoughtful approach to design. Aircraft refurbishment is like choosing a shirt you’ll love to wear every day for the next ten years. You want to have options. And you want your designer to have the space to dig into what will feel comfortable to you over time without the pressure to rush or recommend something off the shelf. Many of our clients are doing this for the first time. With an independent designer, they know exactly how much they’re investing in design and that they’ll have an experienced guide whose only priority is tailoring the design to their needs. It’s really a personal choice.
